Rummy

Thirteen cards, two sequences, one declaration. Points, pool and deals tables running around the clock.

In short

Indian rummy is a 13-card melding game. To declare you need at least two sequences, one of them pure, with every remaining card in a valid sequence or set. Tables run in three formats — points, pool and deals. Demo lobby: no tables are hosted and no stakes are involved.

A hand, start to finish

  1. Deal — 13 cards each, one card turned up to fix the wild joker for the hand.
  2. Draw — take one card from the closed deck or the open discard pile.
  3. Meld — build sequences and sets, keeping at least one pure sequence.
  4. Discard — end each turn by discarding, back down to 13 cards.
  5. Declare — place the final card face down when all 13 are valid. A wrong declaration costs the full 80 points.

Worth knowing

  • Face cards and aces are worth 10 points each; number cards carry their face value.
  • First-turn drop costs 20 points, a middle drop 40, and a wrong declaration 80.
  • Ace plays both low (A-2-3) and high (Q-K-A), but never wraps around.

Frequently asked questions

What is a pure sequence in rummy?

A pure sequence is three or more consecutive cards of the same suit with no joker used — for example 5♥ 6♥ 7♥. Every valid declaration must contain at least one.

What is the difference between points, pool and deals rummy?

Points rummy is a single hand played for a point value. Pool rummy eliminates players as they cross 101 or 201 points. Deals rummy runs a fixed number of hands and the biggest chip stack wins.

How many points is a wrong declaration?

An invalid declaration carries the maximum penalty of 80 points, regardless of what you were actually holding.

Can a joker be used in a pure sequence?

No. The moment a joker fills a gap the run becomes an impure sequence. It still counts towards your two required sequences, but it cannot be the pure one.

Can I play rummy on this site?

No. This page is a demo layout showing how a rummy lobby is structured. No tables are hosted and no stakes are involved.
